Bianca Nwaizu, a rising star in the swimming world, has made a bold decision to commit to the University of Texas, Austin, for her college journey. But this isn't just any commitment; it's a statement from the #11 ranked breaststroker in the class of 2027, who is ready to make waves in the pool!

Swimming in college is a dream for many, and Nwaizu is determined to make it a reality. Hailing from Irvine, California, she has already made a splash in the swimming community with her impressive performances.
"I am honored and excited to continue my academic and athletic journey at Texas," Nwaizu exclaimed. Her gratitude extends to her family, friends, and coaches who have been instrumental in her success. And the Texas coaching staff, led by Coach Carol, Coach Mitch, and Coach Chad, has offered her a fantastic opportunity.
At the Summer Juniors in August, Nwaizu showcased her talent by winning the 'B' final in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best of 1:09.85. She also secured a 4th-place finish in the 50 breast with a time of 31.93. But her impact wasn't limited to individual events; she was a key contributor to the Irvine Novaquatics team, helping them achieve four top-eight relay finishes.
Nwaizu's success isn't just a recent phenomenon. In June 2025, she made it to the finals in all three breaststroke events at the US Summer Nationals, with her highest finish in the 100 breast (23rd). She also swam lifetime bests in the 200 breast (31st) and 50 breast (25th). And let's not forget her impressive performance at the Winter Juniors-West in December, where she claimed 3rd place in the 100 breast with a time of 59.73, breaking the one-minute barrier.
As Nwaizu prepares to join the Texas women's team, she will be part of a powerful class of 2031. She will be alongside top recruits like Sadie Buckley (#3) and Daisy Collins (#8), as well as diver Callie Fox and New Zealand's Milan Glintmeyer. And here's where it gets interesting: Nwaizu will have the opportunity to train with Avery Klamfoth, the #10 ranked recruit for 2026, for three years. Klamfoth's best times in the 100 and 200 breast are just a few seconds ahead of Nwaizu's, setting the stage for a competitive and inspiring training environment.
The Texas women's swimming team has a strong foundation, having won the 2025 SEC team title in their inaugural SEC season and finishing 3rd at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Nwaizu's best times are already close to what it took to qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2025, and with her commitment, she's poised to make an immediate impact.
