Get ready for a heavyweight clash that could shake the foundations of Karate Combat! On December 5th, 2025, former UFC veteran and current Karate Combat Heavyweight champion Sam Alvey will put his title on the line against the formidable Robelis Despaigne in Miami. Karate Combat is gearing up to close out 2025 with a bang.
Alvey, known as “Smilin’ Sam,” is coming off an impressive year. He shocked the world by knocking out kickboxing legend Tyrone Spong in the second round, defying the odds as a +335 underdog, and successfully defending his title for the second time. Before that, he won the belt by defeating Ross Levine. Since his release from the UFC, following an eight-fight losing streak, Alvey has revitalized his career in the KC Pit, boasting a record of 4-1 with three knockouts.
But here's where it gets controversial... Alvey is now facing what could be his toughest challenge yet.
Despaigne, also a former UFC fighter with a 1-2 record, has become a force to be reckoned with under Karate Combat rules. Nicknamed “Big Boy,” he's made a name for himself by knocking out his first three KC opponents in a combined 30 seconds! He then secured his title shot by winning a one-night Heavyweight tournament, where he finished Saulo Cavalari, Tim Johnson, and Zac Pauga.
In addition to the main event, Karate Combat 58 has a stacked card with other exciting matchups, including:
- Oussama Assli vs. James Honey for the Welterweight title
- Chris Barnett vs. Johnathan Miller
- Lorenz Larkin vs. Vanilto Antunes
- Jayden Eynaud vs. Rafael Carvalho
- Oscar Remihana vs. Brandon Jenkins
- Namo Fazil vs. Guilherme Teixeira
- Erko Jun vs. Monte Deon Ogbonna
- Debora Evora vs. Erica Santos
- Claudio Ribeiro vs. Sergey Ponomarev
And this is the part most people miss... Karate Combat 58 will be streamed for free on YouTube next Friday.
