GOF Enhances Border Security Post-Sungai Golok Shooting
TUMPAT: In response to the tragic shooting incident in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, which resulted in the death of a Malaysian man, the General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade has taken decisive action to bolster security along the Malaysia-Thailand border. The incident has prompted a heightened state of vigilance and a comprehensive review of border control measures.
Acting Commander Asst Comm Ijid Landu Binju emphasized that the GOF's proactive approach extends beyond immediate incident response. He stated, 'We remain constantly vigilant, regardless of any incidents occurring on the Thai side. Our priority is to ensure the safety and security of our borders.'
During a press conference at the Tactical Company Headquarters (Martek) in Pengkalan Kubor, Commander Binju instructed all officers and personnel stationed along the border to maintain a heightened state of alertness. He further directed them to continue implementing preventive measures, including roadblock inspections and patrols, as a precautionary step to maintain border security and ensure effective control.
The incident, which occurred at a house in Sungai Golok town, Narathiwat, in southern Thailand, has sparked concern and prompted the GOF to take swift and decisive action.
