The open-world RPG Assassin’s Creed Shadows leaves some threads loose, but that’s by design rather than a flaw. One of the game’s lead developers explains that the Animus Hub will act as a connective tissue, linking Shadows to future chapters in the series and letting ongoing ideas evolve across projects.
To bring you up to speed: the Animus Hub functions like a central menu. It offers concise summaries of several previous Assassin’s Creed titles and lets players launch them directly from the hub. It also houses sections for Projects (essentially battle passes), the Exchange (an in-game shop), and, most intriguingly, the Vault, which provides a recap of the contemporary storyline set in the modern day.
But here’s where it gets interesting: the hub is designed to keep narrative threads alive beyond Shadows, so they can continue to develop in future installments. And this approach could shape how the series expands, with ideas and setups already planted that may ripple through upcoming games.
What do you think about a shared connective hub that threads together multiple games within a single franchise? Do you believe this strategy enhances the experience by creating a cohesive continuity, or does it risk overreliance on past content? Share your thoughts in the comments.
