Arc Raiders Dev Drops Cosmetic Prices, Offers Refunds, and Reveals Duo Prioritized Match
Get ready for a surprise! Arc Raiders is taking a big step forward with its in-game store cosmetics. The game's developer, Embark Studios, has announced a price cut and a refund policy for players who purchased cosmetics before the new prices take effect. The update on the official Arc Raiders website reveals that the team has listened to player feedback and made adjustments to lower prices where applicable.
The revised prices will be live tomorrow, November 13, at 1.30 am PT / 4.30 am ET / 9.30 am GMT. Embark Studios is also offering compensation for any Raider who has already made a purchase on the old pricing. These Raider Tokens will be refunded back into your account automatically in the coming week.
However, the team has not revealed the new prices or the extent of the discounts. Some players have been unhappy with the costs, with complaints that premium skins cost 'half the price of the game' itself. Despite this, the news is generally positive for players.
Arc Raiders has also been quietly testing duo matchmaking and has enabled it earlier this week. The team explains that duo matchmaking will prioritize Solos and Squads to play separately, followed by Duos and Trios. However, this is not a guaranteed system, and players may encounter different player constellations.
In the future, players will see both free and premium decks. Gameplay items are only in free Raider Decks, but some items have been included to help new Raiders progress. Embark Studios also assures that there are no pay-to-win items in the premium Raider Decks, which focus on cosmetics and convenience.
The game's first major update, North Line, launches tomorrow, November 13, introducing a new region called Stella Montis, described as 'cold, pristine, and filled with the remnants of humanity's lost ambitions.' It will also feature a new community unlock event, two new ARCs, new weapons, playstyles, and quests. The next update, Cold Snap, arrives in December.
Arc Raiders has been a commercial success, selling over 4 million copies worldwide in less than two weeks since its release. The game has also reached a peak concurrent player count of 700,000 across all platforms. Despite controversy around its use of AI, Arc Raiders continues to be a popular and engaging game, with memorable matches and a gripping progression grind.
